Bengaluru airport arrival guide (BLR)

Arrive at Bengaluru BLR with a plan for Terminal 2, Vayu Vajra buses, airport taxis, changing pickup zones and a practical no-data backup.

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru

Your arrival, at a glance

For Bengaluru BLR, confirm your terminal and the transport destination before leaving arrivals. International operations moved to T2. Compare the Vayu Vajra airport bus with an airport taxi for your hotel address, and follow the current pickup signs rather than an old screenshot.

BLR has T1 and T2; the airport moved international operations to T2. Verify the terminal for your actual flight, particularly if you have an onward domestic connection.

Before you fly

  • Ask the accommodation for the full street address and nearest useful bus stop, rather than planning only for “Bengaluru city”.
  • For a pickup, tell the driver the flight number and terminal. Agree how you will find each other if you cannot receive calls or app notifications.
  • Compare the complete journey with luggage: a bus may still require a final taxi or walk. Ask the hotel to check the last leg at your likely arrival time.

Prepare entry documents with the document checklist and confirm requirements through its official sources. This guide does not determine visa eligibility.

Your first hour after landing

Use these as steps, not a promise to clear arrivals within an hour.

  1. STEP 01

Keep the correct terminal in the booking

Check T2 on your international flight details and make sure any onward pickup uses the same terminal. If a domestic connection uses T1, ask staff about the current terminal-transfer route.

  2. STEP 02

Find the bus for the right part of the city

The airport identifies the Multi Modal Transport Hub near T2 as the start/end point for BMTC Vayu Vajra and KSRTC Flybus services, with arrangements also serving T1. Ask the bus staff which service and stop fit your saved address.

  3. STEP 03

    Use the current taxi signs

Pickup zones can change. Confirm the zone for your actual terminal and booked service using the airport’s current signs, app instructions or information desk before walking away from arrivals.

  4. STEP 04

Check how the taxi fare is calculated

KSTDC publishes distance-based airport taxi charges, additional components and a night supplement. Confirm the applicable total and payment method, and request the printed electronic receipt at the end.

Choose your onward transport

Compare the complete journey to your address. Fares, departures and pickup zones are set by the operator and can change.

BMTC Vayu Vajra airport bus

Useful for: A city route with a workable final connection

Follow signs or ask staff for the BMTC service at your terminal. Confirm the destination and stop before boarding; KSRTC Flybus is a separate operator/service and should not be assumed to be your city bus.

Before choosing: Current route, next departure, fare, luggage space and how to reach the hotel from the stop.

KSTDC airport taxi

Useful for: A direct post-paid ride

KSTDC operates airport taxis and publishes distance-based fare components. Its guidance says to pay at the journey end and collect the printed electronic receipt.

Before choosing: Vehicle type, night/waiting/toll or trip charges, equipment needs and payment method.

App-based or hotel pickup

Useful for: An assigned vehicle with clear meeting instructions

Check the service’s current terminal-specific zone and match the assigned vehicle and driver. A pickup location from another terminal or an old travel blog may no longer be correct.

Before choosing: Terminal, exact zone, ability to contact the driver and arrangements after a flight delay.

Get connected

Download your route and hotel details before the flight. Travel eSIMs may supply data without an Indian phone number, so confirm the app and driver-contact process in advance. If Wi-Fi/OTP access fails, stay near the official helpdesk and ask for assistance.

Keep payment options

Carry a usable international card and access to rupees while you establish local connectivity. Ask the bus staff or taxi desk about accepted payment before boarding. Visitor UPI activation is a separate process and should not be the only way you can pay for this first journey.

Landing late?

Ask about the next actual departure on your chosen bus route and its last stop; a running bus does not ensure a useful hotel connection. For a taxi, check the fare components applying at that time. Confirm late check-in and the accommodation address before setting off.

Assistance and individual needs

Book airline assistance ahead of travel and tell a pickup provider about mobility equipment or child-seat needs. At the terminal, ask staff to identify a suitable route to the bus hub or taxi zone; do not assume every vehicle or last-mile connection is accessible.

Common arrival questions

Is a Vayu Vajra bus the same as a Flybus?

No. The airport identifies BMTC Vayu Vajra and KSRTC Flybus as distinct services using the transport hub. Confirm the operator, destination and stopping pattern for your journey.

Should I follow an old taxi pickup screenshot?

Use current airport signs and your booked service instructions. An old screenshot or directions for a different terminal may point to the wrong location; confirm the actual meeting point before leaving arrivals.
