About
Pondicherry (officially Puducherry) is a former French colony on India's southeastern coast, retaining its French Quarter with mustard-yellow colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards, and charming cafes. The White Town (Ville Blanche) along the seafront promenade is the main attraction, with colorful doors, bougainvillea-draped walls, and a distinctly Mediterranean feel. Nearby Auroville, the experimental township founded in 1968, attracts spiritual seekers from around the world.
